The Neuroscience of Business - Thinking, Learning, and Productivity
Our March 18th program last night was attended by over 60 members and guests. Rick Jouett, M. S. Ed., with Washington University was the keynote speaker. Mr. Jouett is currently Director of Employment and Career Development with Washington University in St. Louis. Rick leads the Danforth campus employment function, as well as a dynamic training and organizational development group at the university, which provides leadership, management, interpersonal and organizational development programs for university administrators and staff.

Celebrating 25 Years!
The St. Louis Chapter of IFMA is celebrating their 25-year anniversary this month. Our first chapter program took place on February 13, 1985. At our chapter meeting on February 17, 2010 at Maritz, several past presidents attended a special celebration. On behalf of our chapter, we thank our host, Bill Heisserer, and our keynote speaker, Scott Bennett, with Parkway School District. On behalf of the St. Louis Chapter of IFMA, we thank Grant Lanham, our chapter president, and Kari Haller, both with Alberici for hosting our
Holiday Social. It was fabulous! Over 100 attendees enjoyed delicious food, great music, mingling with old friends at a first-class facility. Kari and Grant, we thank you both for spearheading the coordination and execution of our holiday get-together.
At this event each year, the chapter honors many individuals and companies for their support and dedication of our chapter. In addition, four special awards are presented; Outstanding Company, Achievement in Facility Management; Distinguished Member; and Outstanding Associate Member.

For the past five years, the St. Louis Chapter has participated in the IFMA Foundation Scholarship Program. At this year’s World Workplace in Orlando Florida, chapter members attended a ceremony honoring over 30 individuals studying facility management at various universities.
Our recipient, Timothy Abbott, has a passion for buildings and management. He has found much fulfillment in studying facility management and working toward becoming a professional in our industry.
On behalf of our chapter, we wish Timothy the very best in the years to come!
IFMA Golf Classic, Monday, September 28th
Whitmoor Country Club!

This year's tournament was a little on the windy side, but a wonderful day of golfing and networking for 165 members and friends. It was even a better day for Mr. Jamie Secrest with Newsam and Harp. Jamie hit the $10,000.00 hole-in-one on the South course at Whitmoor Country Club this past Monday. Two spotters witnessed it, Steve Dardin with Blue Chip Exterminating and Barry Gaston with Heitmann & Associates. Congratulations Jamie!

St. Louis Chapter of IFMA July 22, 2009 Program Highlights

Seventy-seven members & friends attended the “Six Sigma” presentation, presented by Brian Traylor, Director, Global Logistics for Solae. On behalf of our chapter, we thank Brian for his presentation, and our host, Rick Jackson, Facilities Manager at Solae, for conducting tours of this unique facility.
In addition to an informative program, installation of the newly elected chapter officers took place.
Fourth Annual "Game Show" Expo
May 21st, 2009

The Fourth Annual "Game Show" Expo on Thursday, May 21st was a complete success. On behalf of the St. Louis Chapter, we thank Mike Boschert, Sherri Ulbrich, Mary Daniels, and LeAnn Hefner for all their hard work! We also thank our members who attended the EXPO. Our associate members spent many hours planning this event. It was first-class and they sincerely appreciate your support!
Roof Asset Management, A Financial Perspective and ROI

Jeff Cacioppo, CEO of RoofChek North America was our guest speaker this month.
Mr. Cacioppo's presentation was enjoyed by over twenty-five professional facility managers. It included vital information such as managing your roof purchase as a financial asset for a return on investment, how to employ pro-active roof asset management and process to utilize preventive maintenance program.
On behalf of our chapter, we thank Mr. Cacioppo for traveling to St. Louis and sharing his knowledge and expertise with our members. And, we thank our host, Barb Knehans, Director of Facilities at Lutheran Church - Mo Synod. We appreciate your hospitality Barb.
Energy Incentives for a Greener Future

Mr. Rich Ockers, with Laclede Gas Company and Mr. Rich Rusnica with AmerenUE presented information on the utility rebate programs currently underway. A huge crowd, over 80 members and friends attended Wednesday's program to learn more about these opportunities.
On behalf of our chapter, we thank Rich Janis, with William Tao & Associates for coordinating this informative program, and we thank Jim Hilf, Senior Operations Manager, with Duke Realty for hosting this event at the Maryville Quad Center.

Program Highlights!
On Wednesday evening, December 3, the St. Louis Chapter of IFMA honored three chapter members/organizations at our annual Holiday Social and Awards Presentation, at the City Museum.
The “Achievement in Facility Management” was awarded to Shelly Beckemeier, Express Scripts, Inc.; Paul Sharkey, CFM, Authorized Elevator was honored as a “Distinguished Member”; and Washington University School of Medicine received the “Outstanding Organization Award”.
On behalf of the St. Louis Chapter of IFMA, we congratulate each of you and thank you for your dedication, enthusiasm and service to our organization and the facility management industry.

New Member Breakfast
Wednesday, November 5th
Hosted by POE
Nearly 50 members attended this year’s New Member Breakfast, 14 of which joined our chapter this year! What a great turnout! On behalf of our chapter, we thank Larry Born and his team at POE for hosting our event.
John Von Fange, President of our chapter welcomed our members and spoke to them about both International and local chapter benefits. John encouraged members to visit the IFMA headquarter’s web site at – www.ifma.org to review the opportunities such as Jobnet, or the CFM and FMP designation programs. The resources available to facility managers are endless.
On a chapter level, John encouraged members to take advantage of the monthly educational programs and networking opportunities. John then introduced the chapter officers and committee chairs. Each committee chair spoke briefly.
- Jim Stueber, Program Chair, gave an overview of what he and his committee are currently working on for 2009. LEED EB and LEED NC, Deferred Maintenance, Security and building tours are just a few of the programs coming in 2009.
- Paul Sharkey, Sponsorship Chair spoke about the “Partner with IFMA” sponsorship program. Paul introduced and thanked this year’s sponsors. Due to their commitment and support, our chapter has been able to provide many resources to chapter members.
- Kurt Molitor, Membership Development Chair stressed to members the importance of involvement within our chapter. He reinforced to the membership that their ideas and concerns are important to the growth and success of our chapter.
On behalf of our chapter officers and committee chairs, we thank everyone for attending this informative program.
Don’t forget to mark your calendar for our Holiday Social and Awards Presentation, scheduled for Wednesday, December 3rd at the City Museum.

John Von Fange, Chapter President, along with several members attended the IFMA Foundation Scholarship presentation on Thursday, October 16th. This ceremony was certainly a highlight of our visit to Dallas. Mr. Tyrel Williams, entering his 4th year at Brigham Young University was our scholarship recipient.
We wish Tyrel the very best in the future and congratulate him on his accomplishments.

The New Generation of American Workers

Jane Wulf is Chief Administrative Officer of Scottrade, Inc. She is responsible for leading the human resources, training, branch development and national service center divisions of the firm.

In addition, in 2006 and 2007, Jane has led her Human Resource team in designing a new performance management system that ties individual performance to company-wide goal setting. Highlights
On Wednesday evening, November 28, 2007, the St. Louis Chapter of IFMA honored four chapter members/companies at their annual Holiday Social and Awards Presentation, at Powell Symphony Hall. Our chapter thanks our IFMA colleague, Ms. Cynthia Schon, for allowing us to kick-off the Holiday Season at this phenomenal facility.
The "Outstanding Associate Member" was awarded to Mike Boschert, BG Service Solutions; "Achievement in Facility Management" was awarded to Dan McFadden, Maritz Inc; Don Scheffing, St. Louis County Government was honored as the "Distinguished Member"; and Nestle' Purina PetCare Company received the "Outstanding Company Award".

The 2nd Annual Real Estate Trade Expo
Huge Success!

The fun-filled day began with lunch, and our keynote speaker, John Rooney, the voice of the St. Louis Cardinals. After lunch, our members had the opportunity to attend 8 various seminars, then visit with over 50 exhibitors there to showcase their products and goods.
April 11, 2007 Program Highlights

Our April 11th Chapter Program, "A Greener Way to Clean", was an excellent program, hosted by Jim Shepardson, CFM, at Boeing. Jim is a long-term member of our chapter, and will be retiring in May, after 40 years with Boeing and 20 years with the St. Louis Chapter of IFMA. This month's program also included a special celebration in honor of Jim.
Our panel included Gene McCoskey, Nestle' Purina PetCare, Bob Smith, Centaur Services and Chris Wiemann, 4-M. Their presentations included informative information on various aspects of green clean. Thank you for allowing us to post this important information on our Web site.
